My daughter picked up these 2 pantry tins at a family run estate sale. She has an eye for the kind of items I like. At estate sales, two eyes are better than one! I would hate to leave something this neat behind for someone else!!!! I don't think I have ever seen a tin this large with the holes in the top. One tin has the holes, the other doesn't. Thanks to Another Time Antiques on Etsy, I now know the one with the holes is for allowing dough to rise and the color dates it to the 1920-1930's era.

Close up of top. It makes perfect sense that this is used for dough to rise!

The second tin is the same size, without the holes. They are not the typical green that you commonly see. It seems more an aqua color.

More information will be coming in my Antiques Galore Gal shop

  1. Good question. I wish I could help. I would assume the holes are vent or air holes for food, like you said. But curious that the other one doesn't have the holes.

  2. I adore the color and they are awesome, What a find and congratulations to your daughter for the eagle eye!
